Your favorite childhood pastimes can serve as efficient workouts. Consider roller skating as an example.

Growing up, I attended many birthday parties and kids' skate nights at the local roller rink. I still enjoy roller skating and consider it a fun workout.

Roller skating may have been an enjoyable pastime during adolescence. However, the activity is also a low-impact, low-intensity aerobic exercise that works several muscles, especially your lower body.

If you want to start roller skating, ensure that you take precautions, including wearing the proper safety equipment. That includes a helmet, wrist guards, elbow pads, knee pads, padded bottoms (I bought some), and a decent pair of roller skates.

Now's a great time for roller skating! Williston Parks and Recreation  District (WPRD) will be holding open skate nights this week at the Raymond Family Community Center. All ages are welcome.

Williston Parks and REC invites you to join them for SK8 Nights on Thursday, August 24 from 6:30p.m. to 8:30p.m.

Roll Back to School Night is Friday, August 25 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Back to School night will feature many fun activities! Join them for Free Skate, the Hokie Pokie, the Limbo, Freeze Skate, Dance Skate, and Reverse Skate.

There will be three skate times on Saturday, August 26 from 12:00pm-2:00pm, 5:00pm-6:00pm (Adults Only), and 6:30pm-9:00pm. And twice on Sunday, August 27 from 12:00pm-2:00pm & 5:00pm-7:00pm

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own roller skates or roller blades, but roller skate rentals will be available for $5. The cost to skate is $4 for adults and $3 for children.

Book a private SK8 party at The Raymond Center. The cost of the private rental is $200.
