On April 3rd, four Williston students (a 12-year-old girl, a 13-year-old girl, a 15-year-old boy, and a 17-year-old boy) were lost in two separate crashes. The sudden loss is an unimaginable tragedy for our entire community.

The Williston Run Club has partnered with Williston Community Builders to proudly present a 5K walk/run event dedicated to supporting the families of the kids involved in April 3rd vehicle accidents. This event serves as a forum for people of Williston and the surrounding region to gather in solidarity, offering a meaningful avenue for grieving these tragic loses and providing support to those who need it most.

Together, we can make a difference and demonstrate the power of compassion and community. Join this heartwarming event, as we stride towards hope and healing for Williston families in need. All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting the affected families. Professional Grief Counselors will be on hand for those who are struggling.

The Williston Cares + Together We are Williston Strong 5K Walk/Run will be on Saturday, April 29 at Spring Lake Park at 4:00 pm. Registration is at 3:30 pm. The price is $30 for adults and FREE for kids 18 and under. Price includes a t-shirt and refreshments. All donations go in through Williston Community Builders' 501(c)(3) organization and proceeds will be paid out by WCB to the five families of the kids involved in the 4/3/23 accidents.

Paula Lankford, of Williston Run Club, was inspired to hold the event because she had a brother who died at age 13 of a tragic incident – when she was 11 years old. Remembering how it turned her family’s world, her world and their small town upside down is much of her “why” behind organizing this event.

The 5k is presented in caring partnership by Williston Run Club, Williston Community Builders, and a growing number of community sponsors. More sponsors, volunteers and supplies are needed for the event. There are different sponsorship types and levels. They kindly ask that you register as soon as possible, so they can try to have the right amount/sizes of t-shirts. Register to Walk/Run and/or Sponsor/Volunteer/Info tinyurl.com/WillistonStrong5K
