Your ability to fall asleep is significantly aided by your level of relaxation, which lowers the release of the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline and helps to prepare your body and mind for sleep. Experts at Hush. looked at Google Trends to see how popular different search terms like "sleep anxiety," "why can't I sleep," and "sleep cures" were in each US region to see which ones were most popular overall.

Google Trends data was used to discover the level of interest out of 100 in each area for the following search terms:

  • sleep anxiety’
  • how to sleep better’
  • ‘insomnia’
  • why can’t I sleep’
  • sleep remedies’
  • sounds for sleep’
  • weighted blanket’

Wyoming, with an overall score of 23.22, wins the title of the nation's most laid-back state. It's pretty clear that many residents do not have trouble nodding off when their head strikes the pillow at night because the region has the lowest level of interest for "insomnia" compared to all other US states. Alaska and Montana, with an average score of 34, are tied for second place. Both of these states don't seem to be interested in "sleep treatments," indicating that they have no trouble being relaxed before bed.

Delaware, with an average score of 35.22, wins the bronze medal despite having little interest in a few phrases like "why can't I sleep" and "how to sleep better." North Dakota and South Dakota both rank fourth with a score of 35.67, securing the Dakota territory a spot in the top 10. The two states don't just have common borders; they also have no use for "white noise machines," which are used sometimes to help people fall asleep. Washington D.C., which obtained one of the lowest interest levels for the disease known as "sleep apnea," which has emerged as one of the major health problems in the nation, ranks sixth on the list of the most relaxed places with an average score of 38.56.

Vermont came in seventh with an average score of 44.44, right behind Maine. Residents of the state don't seem to need any "sleep treatments," and they don't appear to mind sleeping well without any bedroom upgrades. Last but not least, New Hampshire earns a score of 44.56 to take the tenth position. It has come to light that, like Delaware, the state has little interest in "how to sleep better" or "why can't I sleep." With a score of 71 and the highest level of interest in "sleep cures," Oklahoma is the least relaxed state in the United States.
