North Dakota Is Ready For Another Lottery Jackpot

All eyes are on the Mega Millions Lottery prize on Friday night! A drawing for the $940 million Mega Millions jackpot is planned for Friday night. This is the most recent prize available for grabs. The award is the sixth-largest in American history. That comes after a player in California won a record-setting $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot less than two months ago. In 2021 and 2022, players won lottery prizes totaling more than $1 billion.

January 12, 2019 - 1 Million Dollars

A Powerball Pick & Click online play ticket purchased in North Dakota for the Saturday night draw, January 12, 2019, matched all five white balls, making it worth $1 million. The winning numbers were 7, 36, 48, 57, 58, and the Powerball was 24. The Power Play multiplier was 2. The winner, from the city of McHenry, filed paperwork, and claimed the prize the next day! The lucky ticket was sold through the North Dakota Lottery Players Club® via the Pick & Click online play subscription service.

March 18, 2019 - 2 Million Dollars

The lucky powerball ticket was sold at Safari Fuels #104, 1500 37th Ave SW, in Minot. The prize was $1,000,000, but as the player had also purchased the Power Play option, the ticket is worth $2,000,000. The winning numbers were 30, 34, 39, 53, 67 and the Powerball was 11. The Power Play multiplier was 2. The Safari Fuels store received a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning Powerball ticket and an additional $5,000 because the ticket included the Power Play feature, for a total of $10,000.

March 25, 2019 - 1 Million Dollars

It only took two weeks for another North Dakota Powerball player to become a millionaire. April 30, 2020 - 1 Million Dollars

Another lucky North Dakota Powerball player became a millionaire overnight winning big! A $1,000,000 Powerball ticket for the drawing won by matching five white balls. The winning numbers were 2, 20, 49, 61, 67 and the Powerball was 20. The Power Play multiplier was 2. The lucky ticket was sold at Jason’s Super Foods, 975 Eagle Drive, in New Town. Jason’s Super Foods received a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning Powerball ticket.

January 25, 2021 - 1 Million Dollars

A North Dakota Powerball player is another millionaire! A $1,000,000 Powerball ticket for this draw won by matching five white balls. The winning numbers were 5, 8, 17, 27, 28 and the Powerball was 14. The Power Play multiplier was 3. The lucky ticket was sold at Walhalla Cooperative Oil, 1700 Highway 32, in Walhalla. Walhalla Cooperative Oil received a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning Powerball ticket.

March 31, 2021 - 3 Million Dollars

A Mega Millions ticket purchased in North Dakota for the draw on March 30, 2021, matched all five white balls, making it worth $1 million and because the Lottery player had added the Megaplier feature for one dollar more, the prize tripled, making the winning ticket worth $3 million. The winning numbers were 11, 37, 47, 53, 56 and the Mega Ball was 15. The Megaplier multiplier was 3. The lucky ticket was sold at Casey’s General Store, 3545 25th Street South, in Fargo. The Casey’s General Store location received a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning Mega Millions ticket and an additional $5,000 because the ticket included the Megaplier feature, for a total of $10,000. This ties the record for the largest prize won in North Dakota Lottery history. The previous record prize was a $3 million Mega Millions with Megaplier ticket purchased in Williston for the May 17, 2016 draw.

October 14, 2021 - 1 Million Dollars

A lucky North Dakota Powerball player became a millionaire! A $1,000,000 Powerball ticket for this draw won by matching five white balls. The winning numbers were 23, 29, 47, 59, 60 and the Powerball was 15. The Power Play multiplier was 2. The lucky ticket was sold at the Cenex C-Store, 2019 9th Street North Highway 210 Bypass, in Wahpeton. The Cenex C-Store received a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning Powerball ticket. Luck has struck twice at this location, as it sold a million dollar Powerball ticket for the March 13, 2013 draw.

North Dakota did not have any million dollar winners in 2022, but single lucky ticket sold in California won the record $2.04 Billion Powerball jackpot on November 7, 2022.

Attorney General Drew H. Wrigley of North Dakota said earlier this year that the state received $6.7 million from the lottery during the 2022 fiscal year. The Lottery contributed $5.6 million to the state's general fund, $800,000 to the Multijurisdictional Drug Task Force Grant Fund, and $320,000 to the Compulsive Gaming Prevention and Treatment Fund, which supports counselor training for compulsive gambling. In the second year of the state's two-year budget cycle, similar transfers are expected. While many North Dakotans view the lottery as a pleasant chance to win money, the lottery also benefits the state by funding governmental operations, according to Attorney General Wrigley.
