The Upper Missouri Valley Fair is set for June 21-25, organizers are encouraging one and all to submit entries for the open class exhibits at the fair. You might think open-class stuff is not a big deal, but as a former UMVF board member, I can assure you it is. In many places, the county fair is a loved tradition that unites people of all kinds together to celebrate agriculture, crafts, and local talent. Open-class participants are an important part of the county fair. These people are very important to the success of the fair as a whole because they get to show off their skills and abilities. What could sharing your exhibit possibly do? Let's talk about how all the open-class exhibits are important for any county fair.

Keeping heritage and traditions alive:

Exhibitors in open classes often show off traditional skills and crafts that have been passed down from generation to generation. From baking and canning to quilting and woodworking, these exhibitors help keep and share important parts of local history.

Engaging the Community:

Open-class shows invite people of all ages and backgrounds to take part in the community by giving them a chance to do so. It lets people show off their skills and creativity and meet with others who like the same things they do.

Impact on the economy:

County fairs bring people from near and far, which makes money for local companies and helps the local economy. Open-class exhibits add to this economic effect by bringing in participants and visitors who spend money on supplies, food, and other fair-related costs.
