Williston State College Will Host Region 8 Girls Basketball Next Week
District 15 and 16 girls basketball wrapped up, and the district champions along with regional qualifiers have advanced to to the next level. Regional tournament action kicks off next week, and we have our eyes on Region 8. Williston State College will host this tournament, and 8 teams will meet to decide who advances to the state tournament. I talked with Brandon Delvo, Marketing Director at WSC, and he pointed out that the facility is the perfect spot to host another tournament like this. WSC has great seating, lots of parking, and an event like this is the perfect opportunity to show families and potential students just how good of an educational and athletic institution we have in our region.
8 teams make up Region 8 this year including Kenmare/Bowbells, Powers Lake/Burke Central, New Town, Mandaree, Trenton, Tioga, Stanley, and Parshall.
The opening round starts at 3:00 pm on Monday, February 20th with 4 games. There will be another day of action on Tuesday with 2 more games starting at 6:00 pm. Thursday features 2 more games with the championship game at 7:30 p.m.
There is a daily admission charge for those that attend.
If you are unable to attend the games, Titus Stenberg and Mike Reuter will have all the games on 660 KEYZ. Titus has a keen eye and calls a great game. He points out that each of the teams matches up fairly well, and they all have great coaches. Mike Reuter added that the fanbase each has, it should be another fun tournament. Good luck to all participants, and welcome to the postseason!
