After a two-week trial, a Williston childcare worker was declared not guilty of child maltreatment. In July 2021, Torrie Vader was charged with shaking a five-month-old infant, resulting in irreversible brain damage. Vader allegedly changed her story many times during the investigation, according to the prosecution. A medical examiner who testified that the infant had a pre-existing ailment was also called to the evidence by the defense, who claimed Vader was not directly to blame for the infant's wounds. Just three hours were spent for the jury to reach the verdict.
